Stop Cock (SCV)

Stop Cock
A Stop Cock is a type of one-way valve that allows water to flow in only one direction and can completely shut off the supply when needed. It is commonly used in plumbing systems to control water flow to a property or a specific section of piping

Types of Stop Cocks
1. Internal Stop Cock – Installed inside a property, typically under the sink, to control water supply within the house.
2. External Stop Cock – Located outside, usually underground, to manage the main water supply from the utility provider.

Functions of a Stop Cock
• One-Way Flow Control – Ensures water flows in a single direction, preventing backflow.
• Emergency Shut-Off – Stops water supply in case of leaks or burst pipes.
• Plumbing Maintenance – Allows repairs and installations without cutting off water to the entire system.
• Pressure Regulation – Helps control water pressure in the plumbing network.

Maintenance Tips
• Test it periodically to ensure it operates smoothly.
• Turn it on and off occasionally to prevent it from seizing.
• Keep the surrounding area accessible for quick shut-off in emergencies.
